Automated systems monitoring and controlling baggage from the counter to the moment it is retired by Ground Handling personnel to be loaded on the plane; systems include conveyor belts, baggage carrousels, control software, signal transmission devices, optical sensors, CCTV, etc. BHS systems allow for the tracking of the baggage in the system, as well as the implementation of ATR readers in order to reconcile information through barcode readers.
