By means of x-ray screening technology, baggage content can be analyzed using mathematical algorithms, atomic weight and element density. This technology can determine if suitcase content includes any explosive elements that can represent a hazard to the aircraft. Such analysis is performed without interfering with BHS baggage downloading process.
Our product portfolio includes Smiths Detection 10080 XCT technology (which recently won an DGAC – National Directorate of Civil Aviation – bid to upgrade Santiago Airport BHS), able to detect, among others, laminar explosives at a rate of 1800 bags per hour. In addition, we are the sole providers of x-ray screening for LAN in Latin-America.
